Book Club

I eat books. Sometimes several books at a time. One of my very favorite things is to get into a deep discussion with someone about books. So please, send me recommendations, grab a cup of coffee and let’s discuss!

When I was a kid, I lived in the library at my schools. In junior high the school librarian, in an effort to keep up with my voracious reading habits just handed me the book catalog and a pen so I could order what I wanted. It was heaven. Eventually this turned into working at the public library in the summers. My books are the first thing I pack when I move and the first thing I unpack when we arrive where we are going. They make me feel settled, like all my best friends are hanging out. Learning Is food for me and learning comes in many forms, sometimes it’s a story about kids learning magic, sometimes it’s a text. All knowledge is worth having. I think my superhero talent would be knowing things, my brain is packed with randomness and stories. It’s crowded and sometimes convoluted in here but it’s how I’m happiest.

These are what I’m eating currently and some of my best friends to share.

If you’ve got a suggestion for something you think I’d enjoy, send me a note through the contact page, I love making new friends.

2019

2018 was crazy, tons of ups and downs and, thankfully, some positive movement toward our goals. so far we are on track and I’m both overwhelmed and thrilled to realize that. There’s been a heavy focus this year on personal development, both spiritually and in business. Since I’ve been commuting more, Audible has been my favorite way to listen to books so there is a lot of new fiction featured here now. It’s been a good year and as it comes to a close it will be good to write out some of the book summaries to share with you all.

So the theme for 2017 has morphed from reading for the pleasure of it to reading for personal and professional development. I have a few gigs and own more than one business and I’m digging deep into learning what I need to make it all grow abundantly.

Some Of My Favorites

(In no particular order)

Audiobooks

I spend a lot of time in the car (I do live in LA) which means that I listen to a lot of audio-books (the radio rarely plays what I want to hear and the rest of the time they are babbling on about things that I don’t find entertaining). I made the mistake, while Cyndi was in the hospital, of downloading audio-books on ITunes. The issue is that you only get to download them once on one device. If you delete it, it’s gone forever. LAME. Then I found audible, it has a monthly membership which lowers the initial cost of many of their books (the average price on ITunes is approx $30 a book for an unabridged copy) and you can download on several devices as many times as you want. Since I often listen to a book more than once and there is only so much space on my phone this is ideal. They have regular sales, their pricing is better than average on normal days and as good as less than half the going rate on sale days. They also give you a free book every month. Genius.
