The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer

Confession: I love Amanda Palmer, who she is as an artist, an activist and a human. I love how she fearlessly dives deep into human connection and works to build a community that is unrivaled in how it supports her personally and professionally, (check out the amazing success she’s had on Patreon.com). And don’t get me started on the fact that she’s married to one of my favorite authors, Neil Gaiman. Their collaborative projects make me squee in joy. This book really cinched it for me though. Her perspective on how you build connection by asking people for support and then honoring their contribution is inspiring and prospective shifting.

That being said, her music, hell who she is isn’t for everyone. What I will say though is that even if she’s not your cup of tea, this book is worth reading. It was inspired by her TED talk and her perspective on Things is unique enough that the time spent reading (or listening) to this book won’t be wasted.
