Oil Pulling

So we’re starting this challenge today.  Cyndi and I both are concerned about our dental health. Her because of the side effects of cancer treatment and the medications and me because I know that the health of your teeth is an indication of how healthy the rest of your body is. We are pretty happy with the natural toothpaste and mouthwash we’re using but want to step it up a level. So oil pulling here we come.

We started with half a teaspoon of coconut oil and a 5 minute plan. We are going to do 5 minutes a day for a week and work our way up.

We brushed our teeth with our regular products and grabbed the coconut oil. The first pass of the taste of oil in my mouth was a little nauseating but thankfully coconut oil tastes good and melts rapidly.  The thing I noticed was how tired my mouth and jaw are after a few minutes of pushing the oil around and through my teeth. We’re going to have to massage our mouth and jaw muscles after this!  My teeth feel good and my mouth feels clean.
